Well hello there beautiful!
Today I wanted to talk about making a healthy lifestyle become part of you. I know how hard it can be to make a healthy lifestyle work for you, to make it fit into your life. I’ve been living a healthy lifestyle now for nearly 5 years and I have learned a few things, and I’ll admit I’m still learning. That is why I will say it to you right now that it really is true when they say it is a health journey.
You are an individual. There isn’t a plan that will fit you exactly, so we’ll talk about how to make your own plan that fits your life.
If you find yourself not able to consistently work out in the mornings and you feel like a failure because of this, then chances are you aren’t working out, and if you are, you are certainly not enjoying it. You need to find out what schedule works best for you. If you can get your workout in only at a certain time, that’s perfect. Short on time? That’s fine. Not a morning person? That’s okay. Just work out when you can, be fully present, and give yourself that time slot… then get back to your day.
I usually workout in the mornings. It’s what works best for me, I get it in before the crazy day starts. If I’m doing a weight workout, I wait until my Hubby is around for safety reasons. He’s usually not home until later in the day, so those days my routine varies a bit. Not a problem.
I used to aspire to be a runner. My brother runs five or more miles a day, and my Instagram and Facebook are always talking about runs that my friends go on. I tried running on the treadmill, outside, at the park, with the dogs, and every other way I could think of. I tried listening to music, watching TV, even talking to friends while jogging on the treadmill. I tried expensive shoes that I bought online, got fitted at numerous running stores, and bought many more shoes. Nothing made it enjoyable for me. I eventually reached the conclusion that it isn’t my thing, and bought a bike. I really don’t like running at all, but find biking to be very enjoyable and worthwhile. I tried all that time to make it enjoyable because I thought running was the only answer, but I realize now that effort would have been better spent elsewhere. If you don’t like it, don’t do it. Whatever it is.
I recommend trying new things. Take classes, participate in local activities, meet people and see what they are into. Don’t tie yourself to any one thing without looking around a bit and finding what speaks to you. There are no rules and working out is a lifestyle choice that should be tailored to you.
I’m going to do a separate post on diet shortly, so keep an eye open for that.
In short, this is a lifestyle and you need to discover what works best for you as an individual. If you aren’t enjoying what you are doing, you won’t stick with it.
